I Can't, But, God Can

Most everybody has something they can't  overcome in their lifetime;  A habit, a feeling, a dream, an addiction.  There is a vast array of things, some are seen, some not.  Mine was cigarettes.  They were introduced to me by my best girlfriend.  She said that they kept her from over eating.  I was raised in church.  The woes of which were never really taught.  So at age 16, behind my families back I started to smoke.  Back then it wasn't condemned on TV.  I got addicted very quickly because I began to work and I had my own money.  The next 7 years I got married and I just had my third son.  I Had tried to quit, over and over again.  I was a slave to those cancer sticks, or nails as some called them (each one was a nail in your coffin).  I started back to church.  It wasn't so bad because we left before the preaching.  On Sunday, July 2, 1972, The Holy Ghost spoke to my heart. "IT'S NOW OR NEVER."  Talk about someone being scared, I was frightened of the thought of hell and never again feeling the Spirit of God.  I told my Mom to get me back to the church.  I ran up the flight of steps through both doors back and ran to the altar.  The Pastor stopped preaching, and we had a prayer meeting.  I was forgiven that night.  I went back to the church. I went back to the altar, I cried, "these cigarettes got to go", but I COULD'N'T, BUT HE CAN. Praise GOD, he did. I'm still free.  He is still able.  How about you?
