God is the supreme and ultimate and his word is final.  That is my definition of sovereign.  It is a true statement that God is love.  But, his love is perfect and fair.  1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us; because God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.  John 3:16 is about all most people hear about God's love.  We've used the term tough love; God was the author of that term when Adam and eve sinned.  They could no longer live in  the garden of Eden.  God is the greatest of all gods.  He created this world, made man  and gave man a choice.  The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord.  Romans  6:23  We don't bargain with God.  We can't impress God with good works.  We don't get anywhere with God with tears or a hard luck story.  We must believe that he is  God  Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and he is the rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  Faith moves God with a pure heart.  So many try to think of God like he is a genie.  He is God and worthy of our praise and honor.  God doesn't sit up in heaven with a pad and pen writing every mistake.  He sent Jesus to make the way of escape of sins  penalty and gave us the Holy Spirit to help us and show us the right way.  Proverbs  8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the forward mouth, do I hate.  19 My fruit is better than gold, yea than fine gold: and my revenue than choice silver.  God loves even the filthiest sinner, but he hates sin.  People are born in sin and shaped in iniquity.  We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.  Let me give you an example of someone in the Bible who tried to  win points with God instead of repenting.  Jeremiah 34  Jerusalem was about to fall, Babylon was winning the battle and King Zedekiah set  all the slaves free to win some favor from God.  God wanted a change of heart.  Good deeds can't get into heaven.  That's like skinning a fish before it is caught.  We do good works because God is in us, not to get favor.  Babylon was a very hard experience.  God  would of rather they had  repented and followed  his  ways.  There is a lot of difference in God's ways and legalism.  The old covenant was legalism, but, Jesus makes intercession for us to God, our heavenly Father; and through the Holy Spirit sends the answers.  He is our advisor, comforter, guide, protector, intercessor  and so much more.  God is love, but love is not always having your own way.  Gena.
