Peter is preaching repentance to the Jews because of their rejection of Jesus, their Messiah. The One who had come to redeem them was not recognized by them and He was killed at their insistence. Jesus was sent as the Prophet of all Prophets and He was the culmination of His Father's plan to provide redemption from the penalty of sin for all His creation. He was the Lamb Of God whose shed blood paid for the sins of all mankind. If you choose not to hear Jesus and receive what He has done for you, you will be destroyed. God has a timeline and all things work as He has purposed. Do you take his commands seriously or do you just play with them and not recognize their importance for your eternal life? God is serious about His work on earth and we need to be serious about what we do with Jesus, the Christ. Pray for laborers for the harvest and be willing to invest your life, resources, time, and energy to be a laborer yourself.
