Scripture References:

Genesis 8-11

Story Summary:

Genesis 8:  God remembered Noah and all the people and animals who were with him. God sent a wind over the earth and the water began to dry up. The ark rested on Mt. Ararat and the tops of the mountains were seen. After forty days, Noah opened the window and sent out a raven. Next, he sent a dove. It returned. He waited another seven days, sent the dove out again and it returned with a fresh olive leaf. He waited another seven days, sent it out, and it did not return. Noah removed the covering of the ark and saw that the ground was dry. God said, "all of you go out." Then Noah built an altar and sacrificed of every clean animal and bird. The Lord was pleased with the sweet smelling aroma, Then the Lord said to Noah, while the earth remains, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease. Genesis 9: God made a covenant with Noah, because he found grace in the eyes of the Lord. God told Noah to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.  All living things are in your hands. Every living thing I give you for food.  But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, it's blood.  The blood is life and life is precious to God. Man is commanded not to shed another man's blood because man was made in the image of God. God told Noah that He was making a covenant that the earth would no more be destroyed by a flood. He set a rainbow in the sky as a reminder of His covenant.
